About me
I know firsthand the importance of clarity about where you are going. I can help you get clear on what you want and I have the skills and knowledge to help you move forward into the career you love.
I have origins as a high-achieving nerd and I excelled in my own career. I know how to network, negotiate salaries, ask for promotions, initiate informational interviews, and use all the other skills every modern job hunter needs. I have been able to work abroad and leverage my skills to secure sponsorship in another country where I had no work permit, thereafter earning three promotions in under one and a half years. I wasn't born knowing how to do any of this stuff — I taught myself and I can teach you too.
Along side my drive for excellence, I am also a personable, soft-spoken person that is curious about you. My goal is to carry you through to the other side of what you are going through, not leave you in a excited state that fizzles out with no results to show for it. I can help you prioritize what is most fulfilling to you and keep you connected to who you truly are. I provide a safe place so that you can challenge yourself in the ways you need in order to grow and show up to your life in a whole new way.

My story: who am I really?
On the outside, I was "successful"... so why wasn't I truly happy?
I grew up in a small town in Florida. I felt the only way to get out was getting as many A's as I could. If I could just get a good scholarship, I could afford school and I could make something of myself. I didn't know it at the time, but I was running away from what I didn't want for my life instead of running to the things that made me truly happy. True happiness? I'll be truly happy after I finish this paper, I thought to myself. After college, it was, "I'll be truly happy after finishing top in my class for this masters degree." Then, when that time came I found yet another obstacle — I'll be truly happy when I move to Vancouver and work my way to a great salary and prestigious position. That took less than a year and I knew I was good at getting ahead, but I started to think... when is the time to feel happy already?

I worked so hard to make it to the top but I was still drowning.
I thought that maybe I didn't belong in this kind of world; that I didn't have what it takes. Among many, my favorite escapist fantasy was to commit to a monastic life with Thich Nhat Hanh. I sought all the traditional helpers - therapists of different disciplines, traditional career counselors, friends that wanted the best for me. I found through my journey that I had to stop looking for The Answer. I had to start asking the right questions.
You never know who is sent to help you save yourself.
My freedom started when I committed to the first step: career coaching. An amazing career coach, Rebecca Beaton, helped me help myself. We often are drawn to certain people for a reason, and the reason looks a lot clearer looking backward then when you're in the thick of it. I found that our conversations lit me up like nothing else ever had in my long, arduous path to happiness. Rebecca did not tell me who I was, what I wanted, or how to get to where I wanted to be. Nonetheless, she unlocked my own ability to do that for myself.

Who else wants to be truly excited when they tell people what they do?
Started wondering to myself, who else is going through the same thing I did? My career coach reflected to me my own ability to connect with people and how I was already counseling and coaching friends, family, co-workers, and the random stranger opening up to me in the grocery store. If it is something I enjoy and can do well, why not share that with a world that needs it?
No one really wins when I am unhappy from doing things I don't like — and the more people that do things they don't like the more the world becomes centered around things that don't matter to anyone. I want more people to mark the world with their most important values; I want more people to hold themselves accountable to their own dreams; and I want more people to light up when they are asked, "So, what do you do for a living?"
Finding confidence & clarity in your own excellence.
I achieved a lot in my career and I can offer specific, tangible tools and techniques to help you excel in your career. What I think is even more effective is that I can help you connect to your own values and what is important to your life, and how to make that translate to excelling in a career that's perfect for you. If you resonate with my story and how I can serve you, we should talk. I believe my clients find me for a good reason — and we'll understand when we look back on our journey together.

Giving back is very important to me.
Proceeds from my business go to David Suzuki Foundation, a nonprofit that works to protect the natural environment and help create a sustainable Canada in a globally changing climate.
I also am working on developing a special supportive coaching package on a sliding scale for those directly working on reducing the impacts of climate change in the decades to come.
